Stories of Resilience in Times of Crisis

Sunday, June 29 | 5:00 – 7:00 pm

The Philadelphia Jewish community will honor Liesbeth Heenk, founder and editor-in-chief of Amsterdam Publishers, in recognition of her extraordinary work preserving Holocaust memory and combating antisemitism and Holocaust denial. Joining Heenk at the event will be several of her authors.

Heenk, a Dutch art historian turned publisher, has made Amsterdam Publishers the leading international press for Holocaust memoirs. Over the past decade, she has published more than 100 memoirs by survivors and their descendants, many of which are now used in Holocaust education worldwide.

Joining Heenk at the event will be several of her authors, all of whom are also participating in the 2025 American Library Association (ALA) Conference in Philadelphia, June 25–30. She will speak about the urgent need to preserve survivor testimonies and resist the politicization of Holocaust history.

Sponsored by Tikvah, Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center, and pRiSm/RS.
